No lights, cold water in the pools. What else will Luxembourg do to save energy?

To save energy in the capital, part of the festive lighting and the skating rink plan have already been abandoned. The latter especially consumes a lot of resources.

No lights, cold water in the pools. What else will Luxembourg do to save energy?

However, Luxembourg decided not to stop at illumination and entertainment. The city has taken a whole range of measures to achieve the EU’s stated goals of reducing gas consumption by 15%. Thus, it will reduce the operating time of all street lighting from 19 hours to 6 hours a day. The only exception will be the Christmas holidays – during them the lights will work until 01:00.

The street lighting itself and the illumination of buildings will also be reduced. Darkness sensors will be switched to a new mode. This will reduce energy consumption by 8% in annual terms. The water temperature in swimming and non-swimming pools will be reduced by an average of 2°C. The temperature of gyms will suffer much more. First, it will be lowered to 20 °C, and then to 18 °C.

Such changes will be accompanied by information and training for janitors, cleaners and infrastructure users
