The national weather service MeteoLux has issued a yellow weather warning for northern Luxembourg on Wednesday, 18 February, from 7 p.m. to midnight. According to weather forecasters, 3 to 5 centimetres of fresh snow may fall during this period. In the higher elevations of the Éislek region, also known as Oesling, snow cover may reach 6 to 8 centimetres.
According to MeteoLux, isolated light snowfall is possible in the afternoon in the southern part of the country at altitudes above 300 metres. However, the main episode is expected in the evening in the north. During the night, precipitation will become moderate and gradually turn to rain, continuing until Thursday morning.
A yellow alert level indicates potential traffic difficulties, especially on hills and secondary roads. The context is reinforced by Sunday's recent snowfall, which led to disruptions in air traffic in the Grand Duchy. Although the current forecast suggests lower precipitation, the combination of darkness and lower temperatures may complicate the situation on the roads.
