Dangerous pudding is being withdrawn from sale

The Luxembourg Administration for Veterinary Affairs and Food Safety (ALVA) has initiated an emergency recall of the ‘High Protein Pudding Chocolate Flavour’ chocolate dessert sold under the Milbona brand. The product in question was on general sale in Lidl stores for almost three weeks, between 31 July and 19 August.
The main reason for the immediate withdrawal of the batch from circulation was a suspicion of contamination with the bacterium Bacillus cereus. This microorganism is a Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium which, when it multiplies in food, is capable of producing specific toxins. If these toxins enter the human body, they cause food poisoning, which, depending on the specific case, is accompanied by severe vomiting or diarrhoea.
ALVA strongly advises customers to refrain from consuming the desserts they have purchased. Full details of the product recall, as well as relevant instructions for consumers, have been published on the official portal of the LU-Alert national emergency alert system.
