On Tuesday, representatives of the OGBL trade union and the National Health Laboratory signed a revised collective labour agreement. The document, which took less than a year to draw up, aims to improve working conditions for the 415 staff members at the healthcare facility. The new arrangements build on the previous framework agreement, which came into force in 2023. The parties noted that the speed with which consensus was reached is a testament to the high quality of social dialogue within the organisation.
The approved agreement provides for a number of specific financial benefits for staff. Firstly, staff will receive a one-off retroactive bonus covering the period from 2023 to 2025. In addition, the agreement sets out an increase in the face value of meal vouchers and a rise in holiday pay. As part of a systematic harmonisation of working conditions, pay grades will also be recalculated, the pay scale for the CS category will be revised, and the basic pay of secretariat staff will be increased.
Representatives of the trade union and the laboratory’s management stated that the aim of the recent negotiations was to consolidate the economic achievements of the first version of the collective agreement, as well as to meet the staff’s current financial demands. According to them, the measures adopted provide a significant improvement to the remuneration system and allow for a fairer assessment of the professional experience accumulated by the organisation’s staff.
