OGBL and employee representatives of CFM - Van Marcke have signed a social plan agreement with management for up to 24 employees. This decision was the result of intense negotiations aimed at minimising layoffs and providing compensation to affected employees.

CFM - Van Marcke sells sanitary fittings and has 90 employees in Luxembourg, as well as branches in Belgium, Switzerland and the USA. However, due to the crisis in the construction industry, which has been ongoing for several months now, the company is facing economic difficulties.

From the outset of negotiations, the OGBL union and employee delegates pushed for alternative measures such as supported voluntary redundancies and internal mobility. This reduced the number of compulsory redundancies while ensuring that workers were financially compensated.

In addition, the possibility of transferring employees to other divisions of the Group has been simplified. Programmes for employment in other companies have also been developed, allowing employees to continue their careers in their own industry or in related areas.

For those who were unable to take advantage of these opportunities, additional compensation was offered over and above the statutory benefits. These payments are calculated on the basis of length of service, age and marital status, ensuring that everyone is treated as fairly as possible.

As part of the support programme, employees are offered professional development courses and assistance in starting their own business. This should increase employees' chances of professional adaptation and help them successfully transition into new areas of activity.

OGBL emphasises that it will continue to champion the interests of employees, providing them with personalised support during this difficult period.
