The OGBL union signed the first collective convention with the management of Lorry Rail S.A., covering some 25 employees of the company involved in the rail transport of semi-trailers. The signing was an important milestone in strengthening the labour rights of workers in this specific area of freight transport.
The Convention is concluded for a period of 12 months and enshrines a number of sustainable and legally enforceable guarantees that in some respects exceed the requirements of existing labour legislation:
- additional days of long-service leave
- one additional day of leave for shift work
- Provision of food vouchers from the first day
- mandatory wage level - at least at the qualified social minimum wage
- 30% extra pay for night shifts
- double pay (100%) for work on Sundays and public holidays
The convention itself is a formalisation of existing benefits previously provided by agreement. The introduction of a clear contractual mechanism now protects workers from arbitrary revision of these terms.
The union stresses that the one-year term was deliberately chosen to allow for a stable dialogue with management and to pave the way for negotiations on further improvements, including in the area of employee recognition.
OGBL expressed its satisfaction with the quality of negotiations with Lorry Rail management and hoped that the constructive partnership would continue. The union representatives also thanked the company's employees for their dedication and professionalism, which deserve adequate recognition and support.
