On Monday 3 November 2025, the Luxembourg government will continue its strategy to test and fine-tune the LU-Alert national public alert system. On that day, the monthly siren test will take place and the Cell Broadcast system, a technology for priority messages sent directly to mobile devices, will be activated.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and the State Chancellery, at 11:00 a.m., everyone on Luxembourg territory will receive a test notification on their phones, regardless of the operator or model of the device. These alerts are part of a system of instant communication with the population in case of emergencies.
A feature of Cell Broadcast is that such notices:
- are displayed even when the screen is locked;
- sound even in mute mode;
- are accompanied by vibration and an acoustic signal;
- are priority notifications intended for urgent response.
The authorities emphasise that there is no need to react to the test message - it is just a test of the system's performance. The same message will be duplicated in the LU-Alert mobile app, as well as on the official website: www.lu-alert.lu.
