The commune of Esch-sur-Sûre, together with Parc Naturel de la Haute Sûre and the associations CELL asbl and Repair Café asbl, held its first Repair Café. This is an event where residents can have their belongings repaired free of charge, from household appliances to clothes and furniture.
Consumer Protection Minister Martine Hansen personally visited the Repair Café, noting that such initiatives reduce waste and create a culture of responsible consumption.
Thanks to a team of volunteers with different skills, dozens of items were restored. People brought broken electrical appliances, bicycles, clothes and furniture, giving them a second life.
Repair Café is becoming a popular format in Europe, helping to combat overconsumption and waste. Luxembourg has joined this movement, offering residents an alternative to recycling - an opportunity for repair and conscious consumption.
