Rising heat: Luxembourg about to experience its hottest July since 2019

Today, on July 13th, the country will be swallowed by a heatwave. The southern regions of Luxembourg will experience temperatures as high as 32 degrees Celcius. The heat will not die down until next Monday at the very least. And that’s not a guarantee: some sources indicate that we shouldn’t expect milder summer days until June 27th.

July 2022 is the warmest one for Luxembourg in at least three years. The hot spell may prove to be even more serious than in 2019. Back then the temperature came dangerously close to the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

In the wake of this hot summer, the health ministry wants to remind the people of Luxembourg how to avoid a heat stroke. Do not spend too much time outdoors. Do not engage in taxing physical activities in the sun. Stay hydrated. This is especially important for the elderly, children and people with previous health issues.
