You risk getting mugged in Luxembourg
According to Eurostat and UK police data, most robberies occur in Paris, Barcelona and Brussels. Paris topped the list with 611 crimes per 100,000 inhabitants in 2022, followed by Barcelona with 398 and Brussels with 381.
Among French cities, Seine-Saint-Denis (349 per 100,000), Bouches-du-Rhône (207 per 100,000) and Rhône (201 per 100,000) also made the list. In Belgium, Liège (215 per 100,000) and Charleroi (201 per 100,000) rounded out the top ten. The United Kingdom was represented by the West Midlands (259) and London (257) regions.
Western European cities have significantly higher burglary rates than Eastern European cities. The highest burglary rates are recorded in Belgium, Spain, England and Wales, Sweden, France, Portugal and Luxembourg. In the latter, the robbery rate is maintained at around 90-100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
According to the data, robbery is defined as theft by physical force, weapon or threat, as in cases of street robbery or armed assault.
