The holidays are over for Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden: after meetings with colleagues, he has moved on to a busier diplomatic schedule. This week, he held talks with Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter and Liechtenstein Prime Minister Brigitte Haas.

The main focus is now on the upcoming visit of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who will arrive in Luxembourg on 2 September. According to the State Ministry, discussions will focus on international security, support for Ukraine, strengthening NATO's defence capabilities and Luxembourg's contribution to collective deterrence and defence.

The programme includes a working lunch at the Château de Senningen, after which Rutte will meet with the Grand Duke at the palace and with the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Claude Wiseler.

Defence industrial relations are also of particular importance: NATO Secretary General, together with Defence Minister Yuriko Backes, will visit the headquarters of satellite operator SES in Betzdorf, followed by a visit to the NATO agency in Kapellen.
