4.31 million people were under temporary protection in Europe

At the end of June 2025, there were 4.31 million third-country nationals granted temporary protection in the European Union, almost all of them - 98.4% - were Ukrainians forced to leave the country because of the war. Germany (1.2 million; 27.8% of the total), Poland (992.5 thousand; 23.0%) and the Czech Republic (378.4 thousand; 8.8%) received the largest number of such people.
Compared to May, their number increased by 32.9 thousand (+0.8%). Absolute growth was recorded in all EU countries, and the leaders were Poland (+5.66 thousand; +0.6%), Czech Republic (+4.75 thousand; +1.3%) and Germany (+3.8 thousand; +0.3%).
The Czech Republic (34.7), Poland (27.2) and Estonia (25.1) had the highest number of temporary protection beneficiaries per thousand inhabitants, compared to the EU average of 9.6.
Among the status holders, 44.7% were adult women, almost a third (31.2%) were children, and 24.1% were adult men. On 13 June 2025, the European Council extended temporary protection until 4 March 2027.
