Rhinovirus is now the most widespread - it was detected in 34% of those who complained. Influenza-like symptoms accounted for 2.1% of cases, which corresponds to the baseline epidemic activity. Positive results for influenza viruses remain low: 1.6% for Influenza A and minimal for Influenza B.

The rate of positive COVID tests was 6.3%. The dominant sub-variants were KP.3 (53.5%) and XEC (36%), both belonging to the BA.2.86 lineage and classified as variants of concern (VOC).

Respiratory syncytial virus activity almost doubled from 7.7% to 18%. Children under 5 years of age account for 78% of all cases. Scientists have identified two subtypes: RSV-A (59%) and RSV-B (41%).

A potential epidemic of whooping cough is a cause for concern. Several readers have contacted the Luxtoday editorial office with confirmed symptoms. We have already sent an official enquiry to the Ministry of Health and will publish a reply as soon as we receive it.
