Every student in the schools will receive psychological support

In most schools in Luxembourg, the school year starts tomorrow. And as of September 15, there will be a person in every secondary school in the country who will act as a confidant for teenagers in difficult situations.

The basic principle of the specialist's work should be anonymity, i.e. the identity of those who apply will be protected from the public. Such staff will be required to help strengthen school teams and provide psychological assistance to victims of bullying or violence.

This issue has long been debated in society. As recently as last year, there were charges that teachers and administrators were turning a blind eye to bullying. The government hopes that the arrival of a new trusted "friend" will help students cope with the problems.

One important point — the position described is not a separate position. Now it is just an additional function for the psychological and pedagogical team. However, it is possible that in the future, if the measure proves to be effective, the position will be allocated as a separate staff position.
