Christmas Eve, the holiday itself, and New Year's Eve bring changes to Luxembourg's public transport timetable. This applies to buses, trains, trams and services for immobile citizens. Here are the main changes:

Christmas period

24 December (Christmas Eve)

All modes of transport stop operating at 20:00. After that, only international trains operate.

25 and 26 December (Christmas and St. Stephen's Day)

Public transport (AVL, RGTR, TICE buses and tram) starts from 8:00 and runs on a weekend schedule. CFL trains also follow the holiday schedule.

Special itineraries

The Late Night Bus is not running on 24 and 25 December. Call-a-Bus service is available until 20:00 on Christmas Eve.
New Year's Eve

31 December - 1 January

New Year's Eve night flights are intensified. AVL buses and City Night Bus lines run until 6:30am, with some regular routes extended until 6:00am. CFL trains run night services on major routes.

Trams

Working non-stop on New Year's Eve. From 1 January, the tram schedule switches to the holiday timetable.

Services for people with reduced mobility (Adapto)

  • 24 December: 7:00 - 20:00.
  • 25, 26 December and 1 January: 7:00 - 23:00 (1 January from 8:00).

Reservations are required in advance given the limited fleet of vehicles.

On 24 December, CFL service points in Luxembourg and Belval are open until 19:00. On 25 December, service resumes from 7:00.

For full information and timetables, consult the websites of transport companies (e.g. bus.vdl.lu, www.cfl.lu) or call the mobiliteit.lu centre (2465 2465).
