Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign launched in Luxembourg
Luxembourg's Minister of Health, Martine Deprez, has presented initiatives to improve human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates. While data on current coverage is still being analysed, the 2025 action plan includes a number of meaningful steps.
Information Campaign 2025
A major education initiative is planned to inform the public about the importance of HPV vaccination.
Updated materials
In 2023, the HPV information booklet was redesigned and distributed to the target audience.
The role of school-based medicine
During school health checks, students are educated about the need for vaccination and parents are counselled. Schools can also organise information sessions on request.
Within the framework of school medicine reform, it is planned to strengthen co-operation between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. Special attention is paid to prevention and promotion of healthy lifestyles among children.
Vaccination is fully covered by the state for children and adolescents from 9 to 20 years of age, according to the national programme. However, vaccinations for people over 21 years of age are self-paid, unless they are at risk, such as patients with HIV.
