On Monday 28 April 2025, the Minister for Equality and Diversity, Yuriko Backes, officially opened the Centre national pour victimes de violences (CNVV). The ceremony was attended by Ministers Claude Meisch, Martine Deprez and Elisabeth Margue, as well as representatives of the police and the Luxembourg Red Cross.

From 29 April, the CNVV will offer victims - adults and children - unconditional access to comprehensive care for all forms of violence: physical, sexual and psychological. The centre acts as a first point of contact and relies on a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together in one place:

  • psychosocial support,
  • medical care,
  • the possibility of a complaint and police intervention,
  • legal advice.

A special feature of the new structure is that it operates outside standard hours - in addition to existing services. If necessary, the centre refers victims to specialised services for medium- and long-term support.
