On the morning of 15 February, around 6:45, a goods train broke down at Bettembourg railway station, causing massive delays and cancellations of trains between Luxembourg, Thionville and Metz.
Passengers faced long waits and many were unable to get to work on time. One frontier worker said: "Trains are stuck in Thionville, I've been waiting for an hour and have to go home to work remotely."
By 9:00 a.m., the CFL announced that the problem had been fixed, but train traffic was returning to normal gradually.
The incident was another disruption on the congested Luxembourg-France line, where train delays have long been a source of frustration for passengers.
