Road closures and diversions are expected at the Pontpierre junction on the A4

Drivers planning to travel on the A4 motorway this coming weekend should be aware of temporary traffic restrictions in the vicinity of the Pontpierre junction.
The Luxembourg Bridges and Roads Administration has announced the final stage of work on the redevelopment of the junction. From Friday 12 June at 8.00 pm until Monday 15 June at approximately 5.00 am, contractors will be laying the final layer of road surfacing on the slip roads and access roads of the junction.
To minimise disruption to traffic, the main works are scheduled for the weekend.
What restrictions will be introduced?
During the works, the exit from the A4 motorway towards Esch-sur-Alzette to Pontpierre will be completely closed. In addition, traffic on the A4 motorway in this direction will be restricted to a single lane. A temporary diversion route has been prepared for motorists and will be signposted.
How to get to Pontpierre
Drivers heading to Pontpierre on the A4 from Luxembourg towards Esch-sur-Alzette will need to take a diversion via the Foetz junction.
The route will then follow the CR164 and CR169 regional roads, after which motorists will be able to return to Pontpierre.
The authorities recommend allowing extra time for your journey and, where possible, planning your route in advance, particularly during peak traffic hours.
The redevelopment of the Pontpierre junction forms part of a programme to modernise the road infrastructure in the south of the country and is aimed at improving safety and increasing capacity on one of the busiest sections of Luxembourg’s motorway network.
