Parcels and letters in Luxembourg to become more expensive for the sender

On Friday, July 29, POST Luxembourg has announced that the pricing for all letters and parcels in the country will rise this fall. This will be the first price growth since May 2019.

Letters and parcels sent within the Grand Duchy will become 20 eurocents more expensive. Now they will cost 1 euro. Postage abroad will increase in price too, by 35 euro cents. Sending a package to another European country will cost 1.40 euros. Postage to other regions will be even more expensive: 1.70 euros.

Tariffs for large parcels will also be calculated based on this price hike.

The new rates will come into effect on 1 September. POST Luxembourg will update the postage stamps accordingly. You can still use old stamps, but you will have to pay extra for shipping. On average, Luxembourgers will start spending between 1.20 and 2.10 euros more on mail. A resident of the country buys about 6 postage stamps per year.

Despite this rise in prices, postal rates in Luxembourg remain low. Only now the price of small shipments within the country has caught up with the pricing for a similar parcel in Germany. And the Grand Duchy is still far behind the tariffs in Belgium (1.89 euros) and France (2.86 euros).
