The national weather service Meteolux has extended the hot weather warning: the yellow alert level is now in force not only on Friday, but also on Saturday, 13 and 14 June.

Forecasters predict temperatures will reach 30-32 °C between 12:00 and 21:00 both days, with temperatures as high as 33 °C possible in low-lying regions along the Moselle River - potentially the highest values in the country during this period.

A yellow level is a signal of increased weather stress, especially for the elderly, young children and those with chronic illnesses. In this weather, there is an increased risk of heat stroke, dehydration and general overheating of the body. Authorities recommend:

  • limit sun exposure,
  • Avoid physical activity during peak heat,
  • drink more water and monitor your health.

While hot weather in July and August is not uncommon for Luxembourg, such high temperatures in mid-June are more unusual. This could be a harbinger of a long hot summer, especially against the backdrop of rising climate trends.
