On 26 April 2025, Luxembourg hosted the 24th edition of the Duck Race, a popular charity plastic duck race organised by Table Ronde Luxembourgeoise under the patronage of the City of Luxembourg. The event attracted thousands of participants and guests, combining fun, family holidays and helping those in need.
From noon onwards, the Neimënster promenade was the scene of a real feast: guests were welcomed with cookery stands serving local specialities, vegetarian alternatives and drinks. The programme included live music and prize drawings.
The culmination of the event was the race itself: thousands of numbered ducklings were launched into the waters of Petrus at 15:00. The winners were determined by the order in which the ducklings finished, and impressive prizes were prepared for the luckiest ones.
There were some truly impressive prizes at stake: a new Volkswagen Polo car, a €6,500 outdoor kitchen, a €2,700 Cannondale electric bike, gift vouchers, tasting tours of wineries and much more.
A total of 35 prizes were given away from well-known partner companies such as Volkswagen, Bernard-Massard, Château d'Urspelt and many others.
All funds raised from the Duck Race will support eight charities, including:
- Rokku Mi Rokka - helping children and adults with disabilities in Senegal,
- Jugend- an Drogenhëllef - support for people facing drug addiction,
- Study-Help ASBL to help talented youth from low-income families,
- Pharmaciens Sans Frontières Luxembourg - access to medical services,
- Pour une Parenthèse - development of paediatric palliative care,
- Asha 4 Children - supporting children's education in Nepal,
- Entwécklung duerch gerechten Handel - promoting fair trade,
- Aide au Bénin ASBL - humanitarian projects in one of the poorest countries in the world.
Duck Race 2025 has also been certified as a 'Green Event', signifying a strong focus on reducing waste, using local products and supporting sustainable modes of transport.
