The National Museum of Art and History (Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart) in Luxembourg City is hosting the exhibition ‘From Renoir to Monet. Impressionism from the Rau Collection’ is running until 4 April 2027. It occupies the third floor of the museum and features 52 works – landscapes, portraits and still lifes.
Thirty of them are from the Rau for UNICEF collection, which was assembled over four decades by the patron Dr Gustav Rau; the museum describes it as one of the most significant private collections in Europe. The remaining works are from the museum’s own collection.
The artists on display include Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Gustave Courbet, Mary Cassatt, Gustave Caillebotte and Camille Pissarro. The museum is exhibiting, amongst other works, Auguste Renoir’s *Woman with a Rose* (1876).
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00, and on Thursdays until 20.00; it is closed on Mondays. Admission is €7; entry is free for visitors under 26 and holders of the Kulturpass and Luxembourg Card.
