In memory of Arthur Unger, a unique artist in Luxembourg

Arthur Unger, one of Luxembourg's most famous artists, passed away on Sunday morning, in his 93rd year of life. Born on 11 July 1932 in Luxembourg, he became famous for his unique technique of fire painting on copper plates, which he called "Pyrochimiogrammes". This method combined art and chemistry to create complex and painterly images.

In addition to his fire painting, Unger has dabbled in ink drawings inspired by Asian calligraphy, giving his work sophistication and philosophical depth. During his long career, he participated in more than 80 exhibitions around the world, including Europe, Asia and America.

His work has been recognised with numerous awards, including the prestigious Luxembourg Prix Grand-Duc Adolphe in 1974 and the Chinese Phoenix Art Price in 2017, showing recognition both at home and abroad.

Arthur Unger left a rich legacy that continues to inspire new generations of artists. His work reminds us that art can be both technical and emotional at the same time.
