Health Minister Martine Deprez has responded to a parliamentary request by MP Djuna Bernard to move to a new contract for medical cannabis in Luxembourg.

On 1 January 2025, the contract with Schroll Medical expired and Tilray Medical now became the supplier of medical cannabis. In December 2024, a final replenishment was carried out in order to avoid a shortage before the new supplier starts supplying.

As of 16 January 2025, official distributors had 1.01 kg of high-THC flowers remaining (excluding stocks in hospital pharmacies). These products will only be available until stocks are exhausted, at which point they will be removed from the programme.

No, Schroll Medical will not receive compensation or penalties as the contract has ended as per the terms and the new contract with Tilray Medical is fully compliant with the revamped medical cannabis programme.

The Minister confirmed that in the long term, patients will be switched exclusively to oil extracts as this is a more stable and safer form of medicinal cannabis. The current contract with Tilray Medical runs until the end of 2025, at which time the government will continue to honour all commitments.
