The Administration de l'environnement (AEV) has published the results of its inspection activities for 2024. The focus is on the protection of public health, compliance with legislation and market surveillance.

During the year, AEV conducted 401 inspections: at physical and online points of sale, industrial sites, along transport corridors and at borders. There were 427 complaints, half of which were from private individuals and the rest from government agencies and the police. Inspectors were on-site 230 times, with a further 178 inspections conducted in an administrative form.

Within the framework of the law of 9 May 2014 regulating industrial emissions, 15 scheduled and 1 unscheduled inspections of enterprises were carried out to assess compliance with the requirements on pollution sources.

A total of 219 everyday products were controlled - glass washers, mats, menstrual bowls, jewellery, cosmetics and e-cigarettes. 28 goods were withdrawn from circulation due to irregularities in composition, labelling or lack of permits.

In parallel, disinfectants were tested in school and corporate canteens: out of 212 samples, 32 were found to be non-compliant, which led to 31 sales bans. In addition, 10 more sales were banned after the testing of disinfectants for swimming pools.

Within the framework of the directive to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds (COV), car paints, varnishes and repair materials were examined. Out of 25 samples, 2 did not comply with COV standards and 4 others did not comply with labelling and packaging requirements.

An inspection of 43 companies using refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment revealed 32 cases of non-compliance: lack of certificates, incorrect labelling of gas cylinders or incomplete leakage logs. To date, 14 companies have eliminated the violations, and AEV continues to monitor the rest.

Special attention was paid to transboundary waste export. Thirty-four border checks were carried out together with customs and police. Out of 1,685 checked vehicles, 457 transported waste, in 229 cases violations were detected, 222 warnings were issued for the amount of 41,500 euros and 7 protocols were drawn up.
