Six students from the final-year technical class 1TPCM2 at Lycée de Bonnevoie have launched a charity project called ‘Hair to Share’. The main aim of the initiative is to raise awareness of hair donation as an important way of supporting people undergoing treatment for cancer.
To raise awareness of the issue and raise funds, the students set up a tea stall on the school premises and organised a series of awareness-raising events. As a result, the campaigners managed to raise €700, which was donated in full to the Cancer Foundation (Fondation Cancer).
The ceremonial presentation of the cheque took place at the school in the presence of the deputy headteacher, Marco Tropeano, and the director of the foundation, Margot Heirendt. Representatives of the charity noted that such youth initiatives are crucial to the fulfilment of their mission, which includes raising public awareness, providing targeted support to patients and funding scientific research in the field of oncology.
