The first results of the national Colive Cancer survey in Luxembourg have emerged
Since 2022, a large-scale Colive Cancer study has been running in Luxembourg, giving patients the opportunity to share their experience of cancer. The project, implemented by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and supported by the Ministry of Health, aims to create a patient-centred health care system and is part of the national cancer control programme (PNC2).
To date, 288 patients treated since 2020 have taken part and organisers are aiming to collect 500 questionnaires to make the results as representative as possible.
The focus was on women who had survived breast cancer. The average age of the participants was 50 years old. Despite the high scores, the survey revealed several areas for improvement:
Overall satisfaction
Treatment information
Psychological support
Women who participated in the survey emphasised the importance of trusting their healthcare team and being cautious about online information. The phrases "Trust your doctors", "Stay positive" and "Be careful of online sources" were the key pieces of advice collected in the survey.
The study continues to recruit participants and seeks to create a more complete picture of patients' needs. It covers the entire treatment pathway from diagnosis to recovery. The focus is not only on medical aspects, but also on patients' quality of life, their interactions with healthcare professionals and prevention programmes.
