On Thursday morning, the Luxembourg police received a report of three intoxicated men at Kautenbach railway station, one of whom was believed to be carrying a machete. Officers arriving at the scene found one of the suspects asleep on a bench. A machete was found in his open rucksack and was immediately seized. The other two men were later located on a train. During a search of the men, the police found a bolt cutter. As it was not possible to establish which of the two detainees was the actual owner of the tool, it was also confiscated. Following the investigation, a report was drawn up regarding the unlawful possession of a weapon.

Meanwhile, another incident took place in the capital’s Grund district during the night between Thursday and Friday. The police received a call reporting an attempted robbery involving a bladed weapon. According to preliminary findings from the investigation, two unidentified masked men, travelling on a single bicycle, approached a man. One of them demanded that the man hand over his mobile phone. When the man refused, the attacker pulled out a knife, but the victim managed to escape. The attackers then also left the scene of the crime.

Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident and that the victim’s property was not stolen. Operational efforts to locate the suspects, which began immediately after the report was received, have not yet yielded any results.
