Tuesday morning on the Grand-Rue, one of the capital's main streets, started with a rush: at around 9:00, two fire brigades arrived at the Breitling jewellery shop with about twenty men. The reason was a suspected fire in the premises.

A spokesman for the Grand Ducal Corps of Fire and Rescue Officers (CGDIS) told L'essentiel that the alarm was false. However, according to eyewitnesses and a journalist on the scene, smoke was indeed rising from the shop, which prompted the call.

Firefighters remained on site until 9.30am to completely rule out the presence of a fire and to ensure the safety of both the boutique's staff and the neighbourhood. At this point, it has been officially confirmed that there is no threat and no cause for the smoke has been reported.
