The scandal that erupted in January around the school theatre group Namasté from the Hubert Clément Lycée in Esch-sur-Alzette has been brought to a judicial conclusion. The Luxembourg prosecutor's office announced that it had closed the investigation after finding no grounds for criminal prosecution.

The reason for the inspection was reports of "serious incidents of a sexual nature" that could be classified as offences. Following the complaints, investigators questioned several adults and minors, including teachers and former and current students of the lycée. The Namasté group was suspended by order of the Ministry of Education.

According to an official statement from the judicial administration, the investigation revealed that some of the actions of the participants may have seemed "ethically or deontologically questionable", but they did not meet the characteristics of criminal offences and in particular did not fall under the category of "sexual violence".

Nevertheless, as the prosecutor's office specified, the closure of the criminal case does not exclude the possible continuation of proceedings in other forms - disciplinary, administrative or civil.
