Despite the snow, ice on the roads and short days, winter is not the most dangerous time of the year for drivers

In a new study, STATEC notes that the number of accidents and incidents on the roads increases in the summer. And when winter comes, on the contrary, they become less frequent, contrary to popular belief. Moreover, accidents from April to September are statistically more serious than winter ones. Experts suggest that the difference lies in the drivers’ behavior.

Since winter roads are considered dangerous, fewer people use transport during this time of the year. This is especially true for motorcyclists, who regularly become the perpetrators and victims of serious accidents when its warm outside. Motorists also slow down on icy roads and try to drive more carefully so as not to get into an accident.

Luxembourgish drivers should prepare for winter now. Snow began to fall on the hills, which means that it will soon begin to freeze and you will again need to be more careful on the roads. All so that winter remains the most dangerous time on the roads only in our collective mind.
