Electricity prices in the Grand Duchy to rise by 35%
The price rise should be expected this fall, said a representative of the energy supplier Enovos. On average, households in Luxembourg will pay 300 euros more for electricity annually.
This statement was made shortly after the announcement that gas prices may grow 80% or more in the fall of 2022. Moreover, the fact that electricity is becoming more expensive is a direct consequence of rising gas prices. A large part of the electricity in Luxembourg is produced using gas.
Over time, the lack of gas can be replaced with the help of renewable energy sources. But so far this is not viable. The number of solar panels and wind turbines in the Grand Duchy is too small to provide uninterrupted and cheap electricity to the entire country.
Yesterday we covered the coming autumn gas price rise. And recently we also wrote about serious troubles within Enovos — after a hack, 150 gigabytes of personal user data were stolen and leaked on the darknet.
