The first carbon-neutral office building in the Benelux region was inaugurated in Luxembourg on Thursday. The project, known as Emerald, represents a significant step towards a sustainable future for Luxembourg, according to Nishant Fafalia, CEO of Advanzia Bank, the main tenant of the office space.

The building is owned by Andando Real Estate and was designed by Architecture and Environment. It was built to the highest standards of sustainability. Carbon neutrality is achieved through a combination of advanced heating, cooling and ventilation systems, solar panels, rainwater harvesting and a centralized control system to optimize energy consumption. All of the electricity used comes from renewable sources.

Similar buildings have long been built in larger countries such as Germany. However, this project is the first of its kind in the Benelux. The interior design uses plants and natural materials. In this way, Emerald does not harm nature, but will also contribute to the harmony and serenity of the people who work in it.
