How to properly get rid of a Christmas tree after holidays

The Department of Hygiene of Luxembourg has issued guidelines for the disposal of Christmas trees. Trees will be divided into two categories and taken out separately.

Spruces and firs painted with aerosols, such as gilding, or augmented with permanent decorations will be collected weekly as mixed residual waste.

Clean firs and spruces will be taken for composting. However, they will be picked up either on the day of removal of mixed waste, or on the day after it.

To transfer your Christmas tree for processing, it is enough to put it on the sidewalk in front of your house. Trees taller than two meters must be cut in half. You can also bring the tree to the recycling center on the Arlon Road, which is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:30 and Saturday from 08:30 to 18:00.
