On Thursday 26 June 2025, the second meeting of this year's National Social Dialogue on the European Semester was held at the Château de Senningen. It was attended by the Minister of Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, and the Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth, as well as representatives of trade unions and business associations.
The agenda was the new European Commission documents - the national report on Luxembourg and the draft recommendations for 2025-2026, published in June as part of the spring package. This is the first assessment since the April submission of the report on the implementation of the Grand Duchy's budgetary and structural strategy.
The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss the findings of the commission and identify possible actions. The Minister of Finance emphasised: "Equitable social dialogue remains the cornerstone of social cohesion. The future of the country must be shaped together - in the spirit of the broadest possible consensus."
For his part, Lex Delles said that Brussels' recommendations confirm the direction Luxembourg's policy has already taken: "Especially in the context of the dual transition - digital and sustainable. We have already presented a national strategy for data, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, as well as announced a call for projects for the production of green hydrogen".
Thus, the government continues the course of technological renewal and decarbonisation of the economy in accordance with the EU priorities. At the same time, the format of discussions with the participation of social partners allows for the adaptation of European goals to national realities.
