Luxembourg has become the world leader in GDP per capita
A recent study conducted by Forbes India has revealed to the world an entertaining ranking of countries that boast of their wealth. Luxembourg ranked first in the world with a fabulous GDP of $143,320 per person. And some of the countries that are considered the most affluent ranked surprisingly low in the overall standings.
Luxembourg was able to achieve such results thanks to a regulated financial sector and a tax system that attracts companies from other countries. Singapore, which took third place in the ranking, also adheres to the same policy. The remaining places were distributed as follows:
- Luxembourg. GDP $89.1bn, population 639,000 people.
- Ireland. GDP $589.5bn, population 5.03m people
- Singapore. GDP $497.35bn, population 5.45m people
- Qatar. GDP $235.5bn, population 2.93m people
- Macau. GDP $22bn, population 695m people
- Switzerland. GDP $813bn, population 8.7m people
- UAE. GDP $359bn, population 10m people
- San Marino. GDP $1.86bn, population 33,900
- Norway. GDP $546.77bn, population 5.41m people
- US. GDP $26.95 trillion, population 332 million people
One of the components of the Grand Duchy's success is the fact that the country is one of the few in Europe to have weathered the Covid-19 crisis quite easily, thanks to its well-developed healthcare system and high standard of living, which is largely due to its enormous purchasing power parity ratios.
