Meteor shower can be seen in Luxembourg this week
Like every year, the inhabitants of the Grand Duchy will be able to see a meteor shower — if the weather is right. Most often, shooting stars are visible from August 9 to 13. The most active night is from August 12 to 13.
Unfortunately, it will be difficult to capture the spectacle on photo or video. The full moon on August 12, will block the light of the meteors with its brightness.
Shooting stars are particles from the Comet Swift-Tuttle. As this comet approaches the Sun, it loses water, gas, and dust due to the heat. They enter the Earth’s atmosphere, fall and burn, leaving a bright trail in the sky. The Earth crosses the comet’s orbit each year in August, thus the meteor shower always repeats at the same time.
