More than half of Luxembourg residents did not register for the voting

A law that was adopted in 2022 allows all Luxembourgers of the age of majority to vote. And at the same time, the five-year residency requirement for foreigners was lifted. However, by January 31, only 11.7% of expats had registered to vote.

These figures were published by the Ministry of Family and Integration. Among those who have lived in the Grand Duchy for 6 to 10 years, the figures are less than 5%, below 2.5% for those who have lived in the country for less than 5 years.

The most responsible are people who have lived in Luxembourg for a long time (more than 30 years). Although even among them the proportion of those registered is lower than 40%.

To participate in the elections, you must be at least 18 years old at the start of the elections, that is, on June 11. The participant must also reside in Luxembourg and not be deprived of the right to vote for any reason. You can register on the state portal MyGuichet.lu.
