New trains arrive in Luxembourg

The first Coradia Stream train arrived in Luxembourg at the beginning of January. It is one of 34 trains ordered in 2018 for the complete modernization of rail traffic in the Grand Duchy. A total of about 400 million euros was spent on the purchase.

But passengers, especially cross-border commuters, will have to wait. The Coradia Stream is now on probation pending approval by the European Rail Agency to travel not only in the Grand Duchy but also in France and Belgium. Tests in France will begin in February, Belgium is ahead of its neighbors and has already completed its part of the work.

The new trains will be commissioned gradually, with the total initiative running until 2025. The updated capacity is about 700 people, and all passengers will be able to use a modern information system, Wi-Fi network, and USB outlets.
