Paid paternity leave in Luxembourg is the third longest in the world

The Grand Duchy has the third longest paid paternity leave in the world. It lasts up to 7 months. These are the results of a study by the career advising agency Lensa. Parental leave is only longer in Japan and South Korea. In these countries, it lasts 52 and 54 weeks, respectively.

In Luxembourg, after going on a parenity leave, the worker has to be paid full salary by the employer for the first 5 months. After this period, the father caring for the child must receive payments that amount to 76% of his salary.

Norway, Iceland and Portugal ranked just below Luxembourg in this study. At the very bottom of the list were Ireland, Switzerland and Australia. In these countries, paid paternity leave lasts less than 2.5 months.
