Stores in Luxembourg take food off shelves again: metal particles found in pound cakes
Auchan stores in Luxembourg are removing Quatre-Quarts cakes from the shelves. The Department of Food Safety (Service de la sécurité alimentaire)has found metal particles in them. According to the department they are large enough to potentially damage the mouth and the throat of an unfortunate eater. Or even cause suffocation.
There is no data on how the metal particles got into the cakes. But the entire Quatre-Quarts product line will disappear from the shelves of the Luxembourg Auchan stores. Whether temporarily or permanently is uncertain for now.
This is not the first product recall inLuxembourg in recent weeks. Yesterday, a cancer-causing substance was found in Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream. Recently, stores have allso taken Delhaize pesto rosso and turkey rolls off the shelves due to health concerns.
