The bicycle taxi project in Esch-sur-Alzette was continued

The Vëlodukt-Ride project was launched in Esch-sur-Alzette in July this year. The route connects the Place de la Résistance with the university district and crosses the Vëlodukt Bridge.

The project was planned for two summer months, July and August. But after successful tests, it was decided to extend it until October 14, 2023. A total of 1,298 passengers used the bicycle taxi. There were 753 trips from Brill to Belleval and 543 trips from Belleval to Brill. These are approximately 50 passengers daily.

The bike taxi operates on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The taxi leaves every 30 minutes. The three shuttles are designed for two passengers and are electrically powered. Anyone can use this unusual way of transport free of charge. Vëlodukt-Ride is run by the City of Esch-sur-Alzette in partnership with Centre d’Initiative et de Gestion Local (CIGL).
