The rivers and creeks of Luxembourg under threat

The Water Management Authority has stated that this year could be one of the driest in the history of Luxembourg. Several streams in the country have already dried up.

The north of Luxembourg suffers more than the south. In July, the water level in the Oesling region dropped to a quarter of the norm.

Indidvidual rains and even thunderstorms are unlikely to help much. There isn’t enough oxygen in the water. Thus the risk of pollution is increased. There is still a good supply of drinking water in the Grand Duchy, but overall the situation in some parts of Luxembourg is critical.

The Water Management Authority recommends following certain rules. Do not pump water from rivers. Try not to fish. Water your lawn as little as possible and don’t waste water on washing your car.
