Those planning to take a TGV from Luxembourg to spend a weekend in Paris will have to be vigilant

On December 2-4, 60% of TGV (high speed trains) and Intercités (intercity trains) will be cancelled. The reason is the railway workers’ strike in France. The strike was organized by the Sud-Rail, CFDT Cheminots and Unsa Ferroviaire unions.

The strike is taking place because railway workers are dissatisfied with the deteriorating work conditions. In this regard, the Luxembourgers, who were going to Paris over the weekend, should be vigilant. The TGV traffic schedule will only start to recover on Monday, December 5. French railway operators generally recommend avoid traveling this weekend if possible.

Those who have already bought a ticket for a canceled train will receive a notification phone message. Ticket money will be fully refunded.

In France itself, the situation is even more complicated: on various routes from 50% to 75% of trains will be canceled.

Strikes will continue throughout the month. The next one could possibly take place on December 7, then there will be one from December 23 to December 26, then the final one during the New Year holidays, from December 30 to January 2.
