Weekend in Luxembourg: things to do in the Grand Duchy on August 5-7

Like every week, we’ve collected the most interesting events and activities hosted this weekend for you. Choose any or even several — and spend an unforgettable Luxembourg weekend.

Hear the sounds of Esch-sur-Alzette in a new way

As part of Esch2022, sound urbanist Trond Maag and sound architect Andrés Bosshard have created three walking routes through the city of Esch. These walks are dedicated primarily to the sounds of the streets and city squares. After walking them, the participants will learn to listen to and hear city landscapes in a new way. Route maps are available on the project website.

Spend your weekend at a funfair

The funfair season has started in Luxembourg. The Dikrecher Laurentiuskiermes fair in Diekirch will run all weekend from 14:00 to 22:00. Admission is free, and 15 types of funfair entertainment for the whole family await visitors.

Enjoy modern music at a train depot

Rotondes, a cultural center and night club located in two former railway roundhouses, has a peculiar shape — and some excellent acoustics. Therefore, every summer Rotondes holds its own music festival. Every day in August, new bands and artists will perform at the center. This weekend visitors can listen to midi-electronica, post-punk and modern classical music. Tickets can be purchased on the Rotondes website.

Make your weekend medieval at the Vianden castle

This weekend, at Vianden Castle the atmosphere of the Middle Ages will be recreated. More than a 100 actors and reenactors will play the roles of peasants and artisans, bards and jesters, knights and nobles. Visitors will be able to learn more about the medieval culture and history of the castle. And also participate in appropriately medieval entertainment. Entrance to this festival of the Middle Ages is ticket-only. Tickets for children are significantly cheaper.
