Luxembourg's most popular politician named
A recent Politmonitor poll conducted by Ilres for RTL and Luxemburger Wort revealed Luxembourgers' preferences among political leaders. The results show how changes in government and individual successes affect popularity.
Favourite Leaders
- Xavier Bettel (DP) and Paulette Lenert (LSAP) continue to lead the rankings. Despite the decline in Lenert's popularity (-6 points), she retains second place, while Bettel remains the electorate's favourite.
- Charles Goerens (DP), an MEP, was the surprise favourite, coming third thanks to high levels of trust (70%) and liking (65%).
- Luc Frieden (CSV), the Prime Minister, remains in fourth place, showing stability in popularity.
Growing popularity
- Christophe Hansen (CSV), EU Commissioner for Agriculture, made a leap, climbing 15 positions to enter the top 10.
- Yuriko Backes (DP), Minister of Transport, Defence and Gender Equality, strengthened her position, returning to the top ten.
- Elisabeth Margue (CSV), Minister of Justice, rose 8 seats to 20th place.
61% of respondents have a favourable opinion of the work of the CSV-DP coalition. However 54% consider the government's efforts to solve the housing crisis unsatisfactory. Opinions of respondents were also divided on social policy and dialogue with partners.
