On 18 December 2024, the Luxembourg Ministry of Digitalisation held the second "Simplification Day", an event to discuss modern approaches to streamlining public services. Participants, including civil servants and experts from other countries, exchanged ideas on how to create a more efficient and citizen-centred public administration.

Minister of Digitalisation Stéphanie Obertin stressed that simplification of administrative processes and their digitalisation must go hand in hand. "We can only offer citizens modern and efficient public services if we simplify and adapt our services and processes," she said in her opening speech.

The event started with a presentation of the work of the Simplification Council, an agency that supports public institutions in modernising administrative procedures. The French Direction interministérielle de la transformation publique (DITP) then shared its experience, describing an approach to simplifying bureaucratic processes through the concept of "moments of life".

Experts from Art Square Lab, a Luxembourg-based agency specialising in Service Design, demonstrated creative methodologies such as Design Thinking to co-design services that meet user expectations.

The second half of the day was devoted to a practical workshop on "collective intelligence". The participants actively discussed key problems and developed possible solutions to further improve administrative processes.
