The Luxembourg Directorate of Health has provided data on the development of acute respiratory infections including COVID-19, influenza, RSV and pertussis for the period from 2 to 8 December 2024.

The number of positive tests for COVID-19 decreased by 10%, from 84 to 76 cases. Despite this, the concentration of the virus in wastewater slightly increased. According to October sequencing data, the KP.3 variant remains dominant.

The number of laboratory-confirmed influenza cases increased by 66 per cent, from 114 to 189. Among the confirmed strains, influenza A dominates (80%), influenza B accounts for 20%.

RSV cases increased by 47 per cent to 179 confirmed cases compared to 122 the previous week.

One case of whooping cough was recorded during the reporting week. The infection rate is recognised as low.

The current epidemiological situation requires increased attention to rising infections such as influenza and RSV. It is important to observe preventive measures and seek medical attention in a timely manner if symptoms appear.
