On Sunday, Strassen inaugurated its new sports arena, the An de Millewisen stadium. Despite the postponement of the expected match against Differdange, the event took place in a festive atmosphere: there were many guests and sincere smiles. Among the officials were the president of the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF), Paul Philipp, and the Minister of Sport, Georges Mischo.

According to Philippe, the significance of the new facility goes far beyond a single stadium: it is a complete sports complex with training pitches and infrastructure for the club's many UNA Strassen youth teams. "This is a new stage in the history of a club that is clearly not afraid of its ambitions," he noted.

The new stadium is the result of a massive investment: the total cost of the project amounted to 24,810,267 euros, of which part was financed by the Ministry of Sport. In his speech, Minister Georges Michaud recalled that Luxembourg is growing by about 12,000 inhabitants every year, equivalent to the city of Bettembourg. Under these circumstances, he said, it becomes vital to develop sports infrastructure: "We have a duty to invest in sport, and not just football. People need space to move, to be active - and we have to provide that".

UNA Strassen's mentor, Stefano Bensi, did not hide his mixed feelings. On the one hand, he emphasised the joy of receiving such "optimal conditions" for training and games. On the other hand, he emphasised the disappointment of a team that had been carefully preparing for the meeting with Differdange and had hoped to celebrate the opening game.

The opening of An de Millewisen was not only a local celebration, but also an important symbol: despite difficult times, Luxembourg continues to strengthen the foundations for future generations of athletes, laying faith in moving forward.
